NHSIE Staff and Board awarded Wellness Fund check from Uplift San Bernardino

In a significant stride towards addressing the pressing need for affordable housing in San Bernardino, Neighborhood Housing Services of the Inland Empire (NHSIE) has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Uplift San Bernardino’s Wellness Fund, courtesy of Kaiser Permanente. This exciting development marks a crucial step forward in the quest to provide stable housing options for the city’s most vulnerable residents.

The grant, allocated through the Wellness Fund, has been earmarked to accelerate pre-development and innovative housing construction initiatives led by NHSIE. With this funding injection, NHSIE aims to embark on the construction of twelve factory-built homes on a community land trust (CLT), making them accessible to individuals and families earning 100% or below the Area Median Income (AMI).

This housing development project is poised to offer a multifaceted approach to addressing San Bernardino’s housing challenges. Not only will it provide affordable homeownership opportunities, but it will also offer rental and lease-to-own options, catering to a diverse range of needs within the community.

As NHSIE progresses with its housing development plans, community engagement remains a cornerstone of its approach. Seeking input from residents ensures that projects align with the needs and aspirations of the community, fostering a sense of ownership and collective investment in the city’s future.

In closing, NHSIE expresses gratitude to its partners and residents for their unwavering support and collaboration. Together, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient, vibrant San Bernardino, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. As we embark on this journey towards housing stability, let us continue to build community and forge pathways to a brighter future for all.
